Thank you Blessing, for putting in text, similar words that my heart struggles to verbalize. The irony is not lost on me: had my early career in the same philanthropy (albeit a very short stint), currently navigating a marriage ending and recently walked out of my global development job. Most days are hard, but reading your words made today bearable.
Phewwww, you write this for us, so we don’t crumble, or crash under the luxurious benefits of white patriarchy if it means we have to exchange our life for something.
Thank you for writing this. And for the reminder that we are enough. As we are. And that the constant over extension of self can quite literally mean death. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you for writing this, Blessing. More Black women in organizational America need to know they are not alone as they drown in a structure that does not value their health and well-being. Your words validate that shared pain and will undoubtedly give more women the courage to draw a line and stop muscling through impossible expectations and invisible contracts. What I find most remarkable is that despite all you took on, you still made space for Black girl magic and encouraged people like me to use their voice.
